— about me —

My name is Freya. I am a somatic practitioner, visioner of gentle futures and writer of words. I offer one-to-one therapy sessions and facilitate community care workshops in London and beyond.

I believe that each body contains the wisdom of its own healing. Somatic therapy helps us to relearn the language of our bodies, so that we are better able to hear its wants and needs. And when we can hear, we can process, we can choose and we can change.

  • I am committed to remembering the ways of the body. Untangling the knots of capitalism that tighten inside our soma, both collectively and individually.

I believe in rest and pleasure over productivity. I believe in innate worthiness, over ‘earning’ or ‘deserving’. I believe in listening and learning over extracting. I believe we already have the wisdom we need.

I am an abolitionist. This means I am learning to work in ways that look beneath the shiny monolith of the Mental Health Industrial Complex, to the mycelia of wisdom below.

I work collaboratively, in the understanding that healing means something different for every person. Each body holds the wisdom of its own wants and needs.

Within my practice, I hold that our emotional lives are directly related to our broader social context. Our nervous systems have grown inside the structures of capitalism, patriarchy, white supremacy and ableism. I mention this here, as therapy generally imagines that the individual can ‘heal’ alone and in spite of structural inequality. I wish instead to honour that this environment is toxic and injust. We need more than therapy to become truly well - we need structural change. But I believe somatic therapy can be part of this story, fostering more safety in the nervous system to increase our resilience and to expand our capacity for joy.

  • I welcome anyone to reach out for sessions with me. I currently work with a broad range of people and needs. A few of my specialisms include: chronic pain, autism, adhd, queer communities, climate/capitalism anxiety.
